So after all the hype of a new iTouch and we get a speaker, a bevelled back and a $70 price cut?!

Well actually that is not all, take of the hood of the new iTouch and you will see that there is more to the touch than meets the eye. You will find hardware that includes a bluetooth chip, which means with a software update it will have the potential be able to sync without being connected to your computer through the iPod cable and maybe even your phone. Although currently it is probably for the Nike iPod chip.

But here is the real juice. Microphone hardware support. What does that mean? The ability to make calls for free through VoIP. All you will need is a WiFi connection and Skype is your best friend. Free calls through Skype on your iTouch, hey I may even buy another one!

UPDATE: Now you can download FRING and have Skype on your iTouch! That means $3 a month for free calls nationwide (if you get a microphone for it}! With the new iTouch there has been proof that it can be compatible with a microphone! The following video demonstrates this. I have even heard rumors that you can buy a microphone for the iTouch now… Networks beware!

The arrival of 3G brings much more to the cell phone arena than the iPhone. 3G has the possibility of reshaping the entire cell phone industry. Why? Because now we may only need to tap into a data connection (mobile internet connection) to communicate via email and also via the phone using VoIP. What this means is that people could call anyone in the world for free! Leaving you with a comparatively low flat rate fee every month. No extra minute charges, no msg charges just one flat low rate fee.

With 3G technology Skype and other internet communication services are possible right in the palm of your hand. Enabling you to be able to talk for free with anyone in the world.

For example Skype has just released its application on certain cell/mobile phones in Europe. Check it out here. This enables you to basically message and call anyone anywhere for free. As long as you have a data plan. However in Europe you don’t need a “data plan”. Its even included in “pay as you go” plans.

So why does the U.S. have to pay for a data plan? Due to the large space that is the U.S. expensive widespread network coverage is needed but as time goes on these initial costs will disappear and I am sure that the U.S. will soon follow the same cell phone plans as Europe, the lag seems to be 2-3 years right now. So in a few years who knows.

So all those people who are paying high “data plan” costs are helping fund the future of cheaper communication, to all of those people, “Thank you. I think your marvelous!”

The recent launch of the 3G iPhone has excited the masses with its speedy data connection and the so called, “cheeper price” (which when you look at what AT&T are charging for the new phone plan isn’t much different).

Reasons why AT&T have been so exited to go 3G may not be due to their 1 million iPhone sales only 3 days after its launch but because it can charge for a phone plan and a data plan and only incur the costs of a data plan. Why? Because all calls with the new iPhone are made with the 3G connection using VoIP. So if the data plan is only $30 a month extra, the rest is money in the bag.

Vonage have the land line version of this, where you pay a set monthly fee and you can call all you want. Take another peek at the 3g iPhone plan and you will see that you will be charged up to an extra $.45 per minute if you go over your minutes. Again, AT&T really do not incur a cent more if you go over your minutes, its just more money in the bag for AT&T.
